The Lord is a shield
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  -Psalm 18:2

I thank God for His precious presence of being there for me. I thank God that He hasn’t left me to myself or left me into the hands of my enemies. Daily I feel like I am in a fight, but the Lord is my shield. He protects me through the enemy's attacks. He protects me even when I begin to think negatively, and assures me that it’s not true. Thank you Lord!

Proverbs 18:10 says "the name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe'.

I have had plenty of times, even as a child, that I would call on the name of Jesus when I was going through a demonic attack. I would see demonic spirits as a child and they would sit on top of me trying to suffocate my breath, but as soon as I called on the name of Jesus, I was safe! Even His name is a shield. The Lord will be there for you no matter what you are going through. It is His pleasure. He takes pleasure in fighting the battles for His children. He takes pleasure in equipping us for war. He loves being a part of our daily lives whether big or small. He simply just wants to be there.

Over the last few years, I have had many times of sadness- some because of people in my life and some because of sickness. Every single time, the Lord always came in and caught me before my grief overtook me. It was as if He wouldn’t let me pass a certain threshold of grief and shielded me from my pain being too deep. He was always there for me reassuring me of the great future ahead. It is the same for you. The Lord delights in you especially when you delight in Him.

Trust Him to be there to fight your battles. Allow Him to be a shield to you in the midst of all of the things that life can throw at you. He never said that our life would be completely free of troubles on Earth, even though that’s how He originally created it. But now, we have the beauty of Him being with us through all troubles and working them out for our benefit in the end. Trust me, trials suck when you’re going through them but they make you a lot more resilient in the end.

He is worthy. He is pure in all things. And He is a shield.
