Fear can be crippling. It makes you feel so out of control. The what if questions can be unbearable and it seems like the negative scenarios of what could happen pop up in our minds more and more.  Well there is a way out! A way that not many seem to choose. Sometimes we get so comfortable with our fear because we find others also afraid and connect with them in it. Or we hear countless messages of how fear is normal and its okay to be afraid. I’m telling you that fear is not okay because you don’t deserve to have a single second of your life taken away by it. You deserve joy and here's how you’re going to get it!

  1. Relax

Majority of the time that we are fearing something, it doesn’t even happen. The enemy will play out so many different scenarios in our mind that we start to feel fear in our chest and if strong enough can bring us into panicking. Take a deep breath and relax. Go outside, smell the fresh air and put your feet in the grass or if you  can’t get outside take a moment to close your eyes, relax your shoulders and clear your thoughts. Remind yourself that everything is going to be okay and it will all work out. You cannot be controlled by fear if you are in a state of relaxing. So make your best effort to relax as much as possible.

  1. Pray

Once you have relaxed your mind, I want you to simply pray. It doesn’t have to be a long drawn out prayer although it can be.

For example, your prayer could look like this:

“Heavenly Father, I know that I am afraid right now. I repent for being fearful when instead I could be trusting You. I ask that you fill my heart with your peace and remove fear from my heart.” Thats it.

One thing you may want to add is your request of what you need. If you need Him to protect you then ask Him to. If you need Him to provide money or housing then ask Him for it. If you or someone you know needs healing then ask Him for that specific healing and restoration of health. Whatever your need may be, He has a supply just ask Him for it.

After you have prayed, the best thing you can do is to sit quiet and allow the Lord to minister and comfort you. I have always gotten responses from the Lord after prayer whenever I make myself to sit quiet and intentionally listen for Him to speak.

"Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. " -Philippians 4:6-7

  1. Trust Him

This is where your joy comes in! You are going to take the very thing that you prayed about and leave it in His hands. This is your sign of trust. If you start fearing this thing again, then you will know that you have moved out of trusting Him. GOD IS FAITHFUL. I repeat God is faithful! He is also compassionate and merciful meaning that no matter the person you have been, He will be moved into acting on your behalf. God is truly more merciful than you know. He just wants us to acknowledge our shortcomings, repent for it and go to Him for help.

Don’t fall back into the what ifs: what if God doesn’t do this, what if He doesn’t show up for me because of this or what if He doesn't even hear me? This is all apart of trust! If you are worried you are not trusting!

Take joy in knowing that the same God who created the entire universe thousands of years ago is the same God who is working on your behalf. Isn’t that amazing? You  have access to the one God who has been here for ages! All other gods were created after Him. He even saw them being formed. How joyful it is to know that He is on your side! There is no better teammate, coach, or friend like Him.

"For the Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing." -Zephaniah 3:17 NLT

  1. Take your mind off of it

If the news is making you afraid, turn the channel! You won’t miss anything outside of another frightening update. Let me fill you in on what they’re saying: someone died and someone is sick with this illness or that disease. It is the same updates every time.

If you have been afraid that you might not make it through your situation then take time off of thinking about it. Go and do something fun! Call a positive friend or family member (emphasis on positive), go to Church, spend time with someone you love. Go and have a good laugh!

Laughter is like medicine for your body and true joy makes you laugh.

Yo have to give yourself a break from everything you’ve been thinking about. Your mind needs a recovery time and you need to be childlike again with no cares or worries in the world, just dependency on the One who loves you.

The Bible tells us to fix our thoughts on good things. Why? The enemy can’t dwell where there is good because He is not. If you are in goodness/positivity, you are in Him because He is good.

Everything will be okay and it will all work out!
